Gunshot injuries are frequently encountered in our country and the majority of them are terrorist-related injuries. Complications encountered during treatment and follow-up after gunshot inuries, which is considered as high energy, dirty and contaminated injury, cause high morbidity and mortality. The variables that cause this condition are listed in a wide perspective, from the type of firearm causing the injury, the time and amount of the first debridement, the surgeon`s experience against these injuries, and the effectiveness and accuracy of the final treatment. Additionally, the amount of bone, joint and neurovascular structures affected, the type of intervention and the severity of the psychological effects of the injury determine the severity of the complications. The treatment process of such complications after firearm injuries is long and requires experience for the physician and patience for the patient. In this article, as a clinic frequently encountered with firearm injuries, we aimed to explain the destructive complications encountered after firearm injuries under 6 main headings and explain how the necessary and effective intervention should be from the first moment we encounter gunshot injuries to reduce the risk of encountering such complications.
