Although cartilage injuries of the patellofemoral joint are not frequently seen, they are important as they differ from those of the tibiofemoral joint and their treatment is challenging. Trochlear concavity, patellar convexity, and the prominent shear forces in this region decrease the success rate of treatment modalities. Alignment disorders and joint overloading should be considered in planning treatment for this region. Anteromedialization of the tibial tubercle is a procedure recommended for this purpose.
