Orthopaedics and traumatology residency training, like many other surgical disciplines, is carried out all over the world with a master-apprentice relationship. Before the trainings in the real operating room environment, the trainee is expected to have completed the theoretical training and gained some motor skills for surgery. This is often done with model and cadaver trainings. With the advancement of technology, virtual reality simulations, which are frequently used in aviation and military training, have also started to be used in the acquisition of these motor skills. Virtual reality simulation is growing rapidly in orthopedic surgery education and the literature on its usefulness is increasing daily. Although many commercial companies operate in this field with various models, access to virtual reality trainings for those who will receive training remains limited. With the rapid development of technology, decreasing the costs of simulators and understanding the cost effectiveness and importance of virtual reality training, virtual reality simulation training will take place more frequently in orthopedic surgery training.
