Fulkerson osteotomy is one of the most frequently preferred surgical methods in the treatment of patellofemoral instability, chronic anterior knee pain and retropatellar/trochlear chondropathy. It has been widely preferred and proven procedure since the day it was defined. The features that make the technique stand out are that it allows different anterior or medial translations for each patient and the low risk of complications. Medial shift increases patellofemoral compliance, while anterior shift decreases retropatellar contact pressure.
