Osteochondritis dissecans in athlete`s elbow occurs when a certain region of cartilage tissue is separated from the subchondral bone. Early diagnosis and treatment shortens the period of returning to sports, as it is a condition that negatively affects athletic capacity. While small and early-stage lesions heal with conservative treatments, surgery may be required in larger and late-stage lesions. Surgical treatment is applied arthroscopically or open. Arthroscopic techniques are the preferred surgical treatment method with less morbidity and shorter recovery period. After the treatment, the previous activity level can be obtained with a controlled rehabilitation program.
