Gait analysis (GA) gives us valuable academic or practical information about the musculoskeletal system. It can be performed in three-dimensional (instrumental) or daily natural environment in specially designed synthetic laboratory conditions with different devices and methods. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) applications offer solutions in many different fields in health information technologies. In the following review article, information about AI and machine learning based gait analysis approaches will be given including current literature. We will also discuss their advantages and limitations by comparing them with alternative methods and give an overview of how they can be used in our daily practice.
