Athletes become more susceptible to injuries due to high activity levels and high range of motion. During these activities, the hip and surrounding soft tissues are exposed to a lot of load. It is known that 10% of all musculoskeletal complaints of athletes originate from the hip. For a correct diagnosis in a complex area such as the hip, which contains many muscle groups, it is extremely important to know the type of sport the athlete is engaged in, the mechanism of injury and a detailed physical examination. Although imaging methods such as ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging give us an idea, examination is essential for a correct diagnosis. However, different intra-articular pathologies, many causes of referred pain in the hip joint, and the complex muscle anatomy of the hip area may make the diagnosis difficult and delay it. A mistake made in these steps can cause serious injuries to the athletes and cause major disruptions in their career. In this section, soft tissue injuries around the hip joint will be discussed.
