Orthopedic surgery operations cause serious pain due to intense nociceptive stimulation in the musculoskeletal tissue. Since these operations affect bone tissue, muscle tissue, soft tissue, blood vessels and peripheral nerves, they cause multiple trauma and are one of the most common and intense types of surgery in which postoperative pain is experienced. However, due to the fact that acute pain in orthopedic patients lasts for at least two months, despite technological advances in the field of health and increasing awareness about pain management, pain cannot be controlled and can become chronic. The presence of multiple sources of pain necessitates the use of multimodal analgesia, which includes both nociceptive and neuropathic pain control methods, to reduce muscle, bone, joint and nerve pain. The health sector is among the innovative supported sectors with high technological and knowledge density. With the developing technology, the diversification of treatment options for diseases necessitates the use of these technological methods for effective pain management. Nurses, who play a key role in pain management, should bring together the multidisciplinary team while fulfilling this role and support the inclusion of current innovative practices in pain management practices.
