Sexual dysfunctions may occur in orthopedic surgery patients due to trauma or interventions performed before, during, and after surgery, which can affect the functions of the genital organs. Sexual dysfunction represents a significant issue in orthopedic surgeries, particularly following pelvic and acetabular procedures, as well as trauma or deformity surgeries involving the extremities. Sexual dysfunctions may be caused by rectovaginal and urethral injuries due to anatomical proximity to the genitourinary organs and injury to the nerves in the pelvis during trauma. In addition, the surgical approach, incisions, and post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from multiple traumas are also factors that negatively impact sexual health in the postoperative period in orthopedic surgeries. The management of sexual health in orthopedic surgeries involves evaluating sexual health during the preoperative and postoperative periods using standardized models, providing patient education through tailored training modules, and conducting long-term monitorization by assessing patients` expectations and satisfaction levels regarding sexual health.
