Hip fractures are among the most common orthopedic injuries resulting from falls and fragility with the increasing elderly population. Especially in geriatric patients, hip fractures and surgeries performed, together with existing comorbid diseases, prolong their recovery process and increase the risk of complications. In this patient group, problems such as dementia, depression, and malnutrition prolong their dependency and increase their care needs. The aims of hip surgeries are to make patients self-sufficient after surgery, able to independently continue their daily activities, and to increase their comfort and quality of life. However, difficulties encountered after discharge, such as pain, limited movement, and the risk of falling, may reduce patients` comfort and safety. The environment where patient live should be reviewed ergonomically, and necessary arrangements should be made at home. Activities to be considered after hip surgery should be taught to patients and their caregivers during the discharge process. It is important for patients and caregivers to comply with the necessary safety precautions in order to manage the post-operative home care process. In this way, secondary fractures can be prevented and patients' quality of life can be increased. In this review, the recommended interventions to ensure the comfort and safety of patients at home after hip surgery are presented in the light of current literature.
