Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease is known for more than 100 years, however there is little knowledge about its etiology, pathogenesis, and natural history. None of the treatment methods is effective in prevention of femoral head sphericity. Experimental studies reported increased osteoclastic activity and decreased new bone formation in the femoral head. In these review article, the studies on medical treatment of LCP disease which are already at the experimental stage were summarized.
