Patellofemoral osteoarthritis occurs with degeneration of the patellofemoral joint. It usually presents with anterior knee pain, stiffness and functional failure. The main reason is the increased stress load on the patellofemoral joint. Patellofemoral arthroplasty is a bone-sparing arthroplasty technique used to treat isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis. It can effectively relieve pain caused by patellofemoral osteoarthritis. Preservation of the tibiofemoral compartments, menisci and cruciate ligaments creates a kinematically more natural knee joint compared to other prosthesis methods. It is a suitable option especially for active patients and can be easily converted to total knee prosthesis when necessary. As new generation designs are developed, their survival times are getting longer. The chance of success and the frequency of use are gradually increasing with the ability to be applied with unicondylar knee prosthesis and the robotic applications that have been used in recent years.
