Intraosseous ganglion cysts of the carpal bones are a rare occurrence, with the lunate bone being the most commonly affected site. The pathogenesis of this condition is not yet fully understood. Despite its rarity, it is a potential cause of persistent wrist pain and limitations in wrist movement. The diagnosis of this condition is typically made through a combination of clinical examination and radiographic imaging. Surgical treatment, specifically curettage and grafting, is recommended for patients who do not experience improvement with medical treatment. However, it should be noted that there are numerous reports indicating a high complication rate associated with the open method of curettage and grafting, and that preoperative complaints may not be fully resolved. As such, arthroscopy-assisted treatment of lunate intraosseous ganglion cysts has become an increasingly popular option due to its lower complication rate and high levels of patient satisfaction.
