Spinal infections represent a heterogeneous group of diseases, including vertebral osteomyelitis, discitis and spinal epidural abscess. Although spinal infections in general are rare, their incidence has increased steadily in patients living longer with immunosuppressive chronic comorbidities. Spinal infections have an insidious onset with nonspecific findings. Meanwhile, early diagnosis of spinal infection is crucial due to developmental irreversible problems.
