Traumatic amputations constitute some of the injuries caused by earthquakes. Many prostheses and auxiliary orthoses are used for patients with limb loss to get through the recovery process as quickly as possible. Since the prostheses and orthoses used today are highly technologically advanced, patients are now able to get through this process quickly.
In the earthquakes in our recent past, many patients have been subjected to trans-tibial or trans-femoral amputation. Many of these patients held on to life with the prostheses and orthoses they used, reducing the psychological damage they had suffered in the earthquake to some extent.
