Osteoarthritis is one of the important health problems affecting the quality of life of today`s people. Cartilage injuries play an important role in the development of osteoarthritis. Oral preparations, one of the alternative treatment methods for osteoarthritis and cartilage injuries, have an important place in treatment practice day by day. Under the name of overthe- counter drugs, they find a place and serious buyers in pharmacies, internet shopping environments and chain markets. Although it is stated that these drugs have effects that change the course of cartilage lesions and osteoarthritis, they mostly show symptomatic effects. Limited effects on chondral degeneration have been shown in limited number and subject studies on experimental animals. This group of drugs should be supported by more prospective randomized controlled and molecular studies. In our article, it is aimed to review the effectiveness of oral preparations available in the market and on which comparative studies have been made.
