This review summarizes the role of thrombophilia in the etiology of Legg-Calve-Perthes (LCP) disease. A review of the current literature reveals no complete agreement on whether or not a relationship between LCP disease and thrombophilia exists. However, there exists some significant scientific data on the role of inherited and acquired thrombophilia on the development of LCP disease and on the coexistence of LCP disease and Factor V Leiden mutation, which is one of the most important causes of inherited thrombophilia.
