Soft tissue tumors within joints are rare, and intra-articular soft tissue sarcomas are even rarer. They can occur in joints such as the knee, hip, elbow, ankle, and others. While synovial sarcoma and synovial chondrosarcoma are the two most commonly reported tumors, malignant tenosynovial giant cell tumor, myxofibrosarcoma, and epithelioid tumors can also exhibit intra-articular involvement. Sarcomas originating from the periarticular bone and soft tissue can also spread to the joint through fractures, tendon-ligament connections, and synovium. The current fundamental approach to intra-articular sarcomas is to determine the characteristics of the mass using all available radiological data, followed by biopsy from the appropriate area and/or excision/resection of the mass with the joint.
