Earthquakes are among the most devastating and unpredictable natural disasters, causing significant damage to infrastructure, economies, and human life. In addition to immediate physical harm and loss of life, they can have serious and lasting impacts on public health. Earthquakes can create favorable conditions for the emergence of infections and contagious disease outbreaks. In areas affected by earthquakes, the incidence of wound infections is high due to insufficient medical care, personnel, surgical equipment, and antibiotics, as well as subsequent rainfall and high temperatures. This chapter will discuss wound infections that develop after an earthquake and the management of these infections.
