Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a condition characterized by structural insufficiency of the hip joint, which may remain asymptomatic or lead to significant functional limitations and osteoarthritis in adulthood. Surgical interventions include total hip arthroplasty (THA), periacetabular osteotomy (PAO), and hip arthroscopy. The selection of the surgical method is guided by the severity of dysplasia, associated deformities, and individual patient characteristics. However, there is no standardized postoperative rehabilitation protocol specifically tailored to adult DDH. This review addresses the postoperative rehabilitation process within the framework of the World Health Organization`s International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). ICF-based rehabilitation aims to enhance body structures and functions, improve activity and participation levels, and considers contextual factors (personal and environmental) in its planning. Postoperative rehabilitation incorporates individualized exercise programs focusing on pain management, musculoskeletal support, mobility enhancement, strength training, posture correction, gait re-education, core stabilization, balance and proprioceptive training, and patient education. This review emphasizes the necessity of a multidisciplinary, patient-centered, and ICF-based rehabilitation approach following surgical treatment in adults with hip dysplasia.
